Blast from 2014 - Desks for Xander and Mitchell

Here is another Blast from the Past. Xander and Mitchell had gotten to the age where we thought it would be ok to have computers in their bedrooms so I figured I would make matching desks for them. The top is cherry - easily my favorite wood. The base and drawer are maple.

Raw wood for the project
Layout of boards for the top
Making joints tight for glue up
Actual glue up
Flattening top
Prepping material for base
Legs ready for some tapering
Taper cut done, still need some cleanup
Clean up of the tapers

Tenons are done
Creating matching mortises
Desk frame or cage?
Cross members for drawer support (yes, those are pocket holes)
Drawer runners
Working on drawer parts
Groove for bottoms in drawers
Half blind dovetails
After glue up, added pins because they are boys
Drawers are installed
Tapering underside of top
Loosely fitted
Showing Mitchell some woodworking
Fixing a crack with a dovetail inlay
